Coaching - A Great Investment In YOU!

Working with a coach can be an powerful, effective and enjoyable way of identifying and making progress toward your goals.  But is it right for you?  Here are some frequently asked questions about coaching to help you decide:

What is a life coach, and why should I work with one?

A life coach is a catalyst for change, someone who will listen to you on a deep and powerful level without judgment.

A good coach will not tell you what to do.  Instead he or she will ask insightful questions that enable you to view life from a new holistic perspective, help you clarify what you want to accomplish, and work with you to develop solutions, strategies and an action plan to meet and even exceed your goals.

From experience, your coach knows that you absolutely are able to overcome your self-imposed limits and will support you to do so. You’ll never be criticized when you express your doubts, but you will be challenged when you use four letter words like "Can't, Won't, Never, and Only”.

A coach is not:

~ a counsellor or therapist.  If you're depressed or suffering from other symptoms of emotional or psychological vulnerability, you should consult a trained mental health professional instead of a coach.

~ a friend-for-hire. Your coach is not there to simply listen to you vent, or to necessarily accept what you say as true.

What issues will come up in my coaching sessions?

Some of the things you’ll work on with your coach include:

~ Learning to change your attitude from doubt and defeatism to YES, I CAN do this!

~ Identifying and prioritizing self-care - something that's critical if you want to make lasting, positive changes in your life.

~ Assessing your strengths and skills, so you can use them to your advantage.

~ Getting to the core of negative beliefs that may be blocking you from reaching your full potential.

~ Examining your life history for important themes, interests, and passions.

~ Clarifying your “non-negotiables” - your personal needs and core values.

At every step, you'll be in the driver's seat for taking action and constructing your best life in a way that works for you.

What will I achieve by the end of this process that I don’t have now?

That’s a difficult question to answer. Ultimately, the outcome of your coaching experience is up to you and the amount of effort you put into it. Your coach can - and will - provide inspiration, motivation, focus and support to make it easier for you to take action. But you'll need to hold up your end of the partnership, by being brave and committed to doing the necessary legwork, to get to where you want to be.
