Goal Setting With Confidence

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

~ James 1:6

The holiday season is upon us, often bringing joy and stress in equal measure. So much to do, and so little time to do it!  On top of worrying about all you need to do over the next couple of weeks, you may also be worrying about all you need to do across your entire life. You may find yourself thinking about the brand new year ahead, and reviewing the past year at the same time. The goals you haven’t accomplished in 2016 only add to your general stress level.

This is a good time to take a deep breath….

Set aside a few moments for yourself alone.  You are allowed to pull away occasionally and pause for reflection. It’s a great way to recharge your emotional batteries!  Here are 3 tips on confident goal setting, to help you experience more peace and less anxiety at the holidays and every day:

1.  Be patient with yourself.  Accept that you can only do so much in a day. Forget about what you haven’t done or have to do - worrying about that is a waste of your time. Instead, think about what you can do and what you can accomplish right now.

2.  Cultivate a positive mindset about new beginnings. Every day brings fresh opportunities to be, do and have better than yesterday. When you are more optimistic about life, the end of the year begins to look a lot brighter!

3. Supercharge your goals with expectation. When you think in terms of ‘maybe’ or ‘possibly’ or ‘hopefully’, you’ve already decided there’s a chance you will not succeed. You can’t move ahead with these thoughts. It is a self-defeating prophecy. Jesus said, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Instead of thinking about maybe getting a new job, possibly starting a healthier lifestyle, and hopefully finding your soulmate, think about the job that you will have, the healthier body you will have, and what that special relationship will look like. It’s going to happen for you if you begin with the end in mind and act in faith.

To Your Peace, Joy and Success!
