Be Careful What You Wish For


For many people, the Law of Attraction is little more than an exercise in frustration.  This is not because the Law doesn’t work – it always does, just like the law of gravity predictably works in the physical world. But like any physical law, it must be completely understood and properly applied to get the desired results.

 

The mind is a powerful magnet that attracts whatever corresponds to its ruling state.  Your results reflect not only your desire but also your expectation. Think of these as equal and opposite forces. Desire is the “positive”, outwardly directed force that communicates your dream to the Universe, and expectation is the “negative” or attractive force that pulls the result in your direction.

 

What we expect is just as, if not more, important than what we wish for. Desire without expectation is simply wishful thinking, and this is one reason why the Law of Attraction “fails”.  However, in many cases, people fail to attain what they are after because they wish positive but expect negative. Your private thoughts, which only you control, tell the truth. What you subconsciously expect is what you attract, and that is ultimately what you will receive. 

 

James Allen, paraphrasing a passage from Proverbs, wrote, “As a man thinks, so he  is; as he continues to think, so he remains.”  We can vastly improve our chances of obtaining the outcomes we desire by paying close attention to our thoughts. Program your “personal computer” to banish any expectations of lack or failure. Expect good results and that is exactly what you will experience.
