5 Tips For Making A Living Doing What You Love

It’s hard to overstate the importance of pursuing a career that aligns yourself with your passion.  But the real world question is, how do you pursue it every day and make money from it?

The fear of being unable to provide for themselves or their families keeps too many people stuck in jobs they don’t like. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are 5 things you can do to ensure that you live your passion in your work every day…and make a profit from it!

1. Learn from others.  You don’t have to create something totally new or innovative. Simply watch and learn from what others are doing, and incorporate good ideas into your own work.  Also, talk with people who are already succeeding at what you’d like to do, and ask them what’s working for them and what’s not. You may be surprised to discover their willingness to help you succeed.

2. Hire others to do what you don’t like to do. Getting inspired can be easy, but staying motivated can be challenging when you have to deal with tasks you don’t like or don’t excel at.  It’s a good idea to outsource these tasks wherever possible, and devote more of your time to high value activities you enjoy.

3. Set attainable goals.  It’s great to know what you want to do in life. But in the words of Benjamin Franklin, “If you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail.”  The best way to get things done is to create a series of small goals and checking one off your list everyday. Even if you don’t accomplish every last one of them, you will still have made progress that will add up to success.

4. Don’t give up.  That’s often easier said than done, but at the end of the day, if you don’t take a chance and go for your dream, you’ll never know what you might have accomplished. So don’t give up the first time you face a challenge, and even if things don’t go as planned, remember that you’ve still gained knowledge and experience that you can use on your next project.

5. Eliminate your limiting beliefs.  Deeply rooted negative emotions, conscious or subconscious, can seriously hurt your chances of success. Fear that you’re not good enough, not important enough, or not “ready for prime time” make you procrastinate, overthink or fail to act at all, and hold you back from all you most want in life. If notions like these are contaminating your daily thoughts, habits and actions, ask yourself one simple question – is it true?  The answer is almost always “no”. Even where there is a grain of truth, you’ll be guided to take positive action that boosts your self-esteem.

Remember that the most important decision you’ll ever make for yourself and your financial destiny is to confront and vanquish the blocks to abundance so you can start receiving more wealth and success into your life doing work that you love.
